MISSION – Mary LeBlanc, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died peacefully in her son’s home on Dec. 30th, 2013. She lived 97 good years, dying just 21 days short of her 98th birthday. Even though she had dementia, she continued to share laughter and loving moments with her family until the very end. “Loving God” was her mantra in her last days.

Mom was an educated professional, receiving her Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. She inspired her children and extended family, as can be seen by the number of doctors and nurses, engineers, law enforcement officers, and educators (including principals and superintendents) she has left behind.

She spent all of her working life caring for children…first as a grade school teacher, then as an adoptions supervisor with the State of Texas. Finding loving homes for children gave her life so much joy. Now she has joy that is unending.

Mom’s legacy lies in the caring nature of those who survive her: Mary Martha; Robert Joseph and his children (Christine Rose, Katherine, and Elizabeth); James Norris and his children (Tanya and James Jr.) and grandchildren (Dylan and Logan); Don O’Neal and his children (Joshua and Katie) and grandchild (Katie is expecting).

Mom would want to send love to her extended family members: the Rodriguez’ in McAllen, the Guerra’s in Edinburg, the Sosa’s in Reynosa, and the Mora’s in Falfurrias. She would also send an abrazo to her friends from San Benito, where she lived and worked for 40 years. We know that she would say “thank you” to all of the good people who helped with her care over the last 15 years.

You are with Jesus now, Mom, and we look forward to seeing you again. Thank you for all you have done and WE LOVE YOU very much.

Funeral services was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home 621 E. Griffin Parkway Mission, Texas 78572; (956) 583-6333. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the children’s charity of your choice. Mom worked for the health and welfare of children all of her life. We feel this is the best way to honor her name. Ric Brown Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
