Veteran officer dies four weeks after massive heart attack

After weeks of fighting for his life, longtime San Benito Police Officer Arturo Palos has succumbed to a massive heart attack that put him in a medically induced coma for the last couple weeks. Doctors initially stated they had high hopes for the veteran officer, however it was announced Sunday morning that he had passed on by fellow officers and local community figures.
Two weeks ago, doctors at Chi St. Luke Health in Houston had given Palos a 50/50 chance of pulling through but were leaning more on the optimistic side, even listing Palos as critical but stable. The 49-year-old SBPD warrant officer has been transported back to the Valley where funeral arrangements are being made.
