At a special Tuesday, July 8 meeting of the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District, the Board of Trustees approved three action items that may mean possible termination of three of the district’s medical and pharmaceutical providers.

SBCISD Board President Arnold Padilla said, “The Trustees felt we needed to open up an opportunity to third party medical (service providers) –- pharmaceutical, diabetic pharmaceutical and health plan. In doing so, we have currently advertised and put on the web a solicitation for third party administrators (to apply with the district).

Regarding the 60-day termination notices sent to Assured Benefits Administrators, Data Rx Management Inc., RxSense Prescription Management L.L.C., and Liberty Medical Supply Inc., Padilla said, “It’s a procedure issue, that’s all it is.”

Padilla further stated, “There’s still an opportunity for current service (providers) to continue providing services if the current companies submit proposals and happen to be the company of highest rank.”

“This procedure,” said Padilla of the 60-day termination notices being sent to the district’s aforementioned current vendors, “must be done to move forward – to move forward (either) with continuation or change in providers.”

Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón said, “The reason (the aforementioned companies) received termination notices is because the board has gone out for proposals of new services. If one of the new services is chosen, (respective) old services need to be terminated.”

As of now, the district is accepting proposal submissions through its website. “Once proposals come in, the Superintendent and team will evaluate the proposals and make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees for selection to move forward,” Padilla said.

“We may continue as we are now,” Padilla said of the fact it is possible current vendors may provide the winning bid. Each vendor who submits a proposal to the district will reportedly be ranked according to factors such as: cost, the coverage they will provide district employees and their overall services.

Limón said, “I think the board is trying to find the best value for the district as well as the employees. The board is always looking for ways to save money for the district.”

“Overall,” Padilla said, “This is a simple process of notifying current (vendors) of a 60-day possible termination if they are not selected moving forward. Knowing and understanding we have a search out, we have to notify current vendors with a notification to terminate.”

Does everyone know what Credibility means? We have a person that’ should be replaced by the end of the year. But, he makes some decisions under the table without letting all board members know about it. Please read this article I read. A person making as much money as he is should directing our District in a favorable way, not an embarrassing way like the Health insurance ISSUE. . Please read this article and give your opinion> http://www.courthousenews.com/2014/05/14/678854.htm

@ James, come on, for you to say I “lack class” you sound like a follower. But I am glad we feel the same about holding the whole board and superintendent and CFO accountable. Regarding going to Check and Go to cash your check I hope you are on direct deposit like my employees are.

to: Mr. or Ms. “What the hell is going on?”/independent business owner…. for someone who clams to be a SB graduate and a Degree person you sure lack “class”. To say I am the type of person who picks up my check and goes to “Check and Go” is very unprofessional sir/madam. I sure hope you treat your 53 employees better than how you speak. Your words represent who you truly are everyday.
By the way, I too am a taxpayer.
We hold the whole board, superintendent and CFO accountable for the many costly mistakes that seem to be happening. It didn’t just start this month… it has always been a reality in SB.

OK James, you want the truth, I am an independent business owner. I employ fifty three (53) people in a neighboring town, but graduated from SB, and from collage with a Business degree. My employee are paid very well and I do provide Health Insurance. Every year I review the upcoming renewal health policy. If there is an increase I want an explanation, but I do request the loss runs to verify the increase. I just don’t request a change to to make a change without a review of coverage’s and loss runs.
Yes, I know about loss runs, and I do worry about inappropriate decision making that could affect the tax payer like me.
If you ever have had to sign checks and be responsible for people you would understand what I am talking about, it appears you are the type that picks up your check and then you cash it at a “Check and Go”.
Oh by the way, you are damn right I am worried… I have high expectations.

Clearly, Anna’s push for the UT deal is a CONFLICT OF INTEREST!!!! What she intends to bring to SBCISD is the exact same thing she does in BISD…and their scores are no better than SB’s. Hmmm? Personal agenda?!?!
And even worse, how can this genius new board consider this a collaborative with UT when SBCISD is going to take the hit on cost? $600,000 to be exact. I guess Anna has little to no faith in SB teachers and feels it necessary to hire outside ‘consultants’ to reteach our teachers on how to do their jobs. WHAT A JOKE!

  2. Will looks like Anna Cruz is continuing to push for a Bilingual Program from UT-Houston( her current employer) that will cost the district $800k! Really!!!! Is she out of her mind people. They love to spend our hard earned tax dollars on furthering their own personnel gain. The district will need an additional 13 teachers that are qualified to instruct this program, seriously. When have certified teachers in our district that can do the job but Anna and the coalition think otherwise. They rather give the money to political favors than take care of our dedicated current staff! This has to be the worst board majority of San Benito School District history.. They campaigned about accountability, and focus on our children, sure. They have spend more money on consultants’ and trying to payback political favors at our children’s expense.. That being said, we will be the laughing stock of the valley and thanks to these non- public servants. We will vote smart 2015 and trust me awareness is coming and coming fast.

  3. @Voted
I totally agree you and wish we could voice our concerns at the board meeting but the political retaliation is horrible in our district.. You must be on their side to promote such action, but what we can control is who we vote for next year and you guys will be surprised. The future elections in the city and school will be a lot cleaner with less voter fraud.. Several of us are still in sock how certain board members got re-elected and trust me it’s being looked into big time.. Trust me folks head will roll and future elections will have integrity and our voting right will not be tampered with.. The truth is coming about our past school elections and you guys will be in sock at the voting corruption in our town..

For all the news that SBCISD is in, the vast majority of voters voted for these board members.
Now, not that many people can be fooled, right?

Seems to me that there are certain people who are going out of their way to speak up. How about you speak up at the school board meeting?

@Fact: “not looking out for themselves” … Says who? You. Board president is doing just what the former board president did all those years. Stop acting like it didn’t happen. The chance of any smart-minded people coming to San Benito is slowing going down the tube.
Focus on the schooling of our children. Not once has anyone posted so much about instruction in the classroom.
Thankfully my children have all graduated.

  4. @ Clueless Frank
Not surprised with the comment from a person who is not directly affected by the cost of insurance. You people advocating for Bob Trevino apparently don’t work for the district but somehow benefit from the business, typical San Benito corruption. All I’m saying is stay with the insurance that best suits the district and employees and for now that’s SIG.. So yes thank you Julian Huerta, Yliana, June and Fatima Huerta for looking out for the employees and not themselves. I can’t say the same for these Board Members led my Super Arnold and puppets. Their making a mess of the district and everyone knows it…

@You Make The Damn Call: “copies of loss runs from the current provider” seems to me that you sure know a lot of the business.
The board members will ultimately be responsible for their actions if they did anything inappropriate. Why are you so worried? Sounds like you have a dog in this hunt.

Here’s the proof Where’s the Proof. Are you living in a cave? Or are you too living in someone’s pocket? It’s posted all over the internet and not just some blogger BS this is the US Appeal Court JUDGE stating that Bob bribed the school Board for the Insurance Contract in La Joya.

However, the court agreed with Villarreal’s claims the Individual Defendants, aware of Villarreal’s existing contract rights, planned and decided to target her contract rights in satisfaction of an accepted bribe—conduct that would not fall within or incident to the Individual Defendants’ statutory duties.

Where’s the Proof? The proof irs in the putting.

Bob PUT $15,000 in their pocket and they PAID IT BACK with the insurance contract.

Our board members aren’t that stupid now to do the same thing are they?

If the District need to save money drop the Agent Commissions first not change our insurance FOR THE WORSE to pay for more KICKBACKS

FRANK, get your head out of the sand BABO. look at item #1: CURRENT INSURANCE CARRIER SAVED THE DISTRICT OVER 1.6 MILLION. So look it this way, the Past President and the (her) Puppets have the better interest for our School District”, not their pockets.

Speaking of the new guys, well they will probably do very well……………….in a Federal Court Room. Once they start to squeeze the huevos people tend to start to speak loud an clear and the truth about everyone. Just look at Donna, and now La Joya.

SIG was never to be the insurance group if not for the former board president and her puppets. Let us all make that clear. Those of you commenting about this have a very short memory. If these new board members did something wrong then so be it. For the consequences they will receive. As someone posted earlier, prove it!

    THESE ARE FACTS.
1.CURRENT INSURANCE CARRIER SAVED THE DISTRICT OVER 1.6 MILLION.
    2. A QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED BY ADMINISTRATION “HOW WE GET BOB BACK IN”
    3. A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS HAS BE RECOMMENDED BY ADMIN AND REQUESTED BY THE BOARD.
    4. SIG PROVIDES SBCISD A 3 YEAR RATE GUARANTEE. WITH THE CURRENT CARRIER.
    4. (NOW WHAT SMELLS FUNNY IS) NOWHERE DOES ADMINISTRATION AND THE BOARD REQUEST A RENEWAL QUOTE, OR COPIES OF LOSS RUNS FROM OUR CURRENT CARRIER. AS A MATTER OF FACT OUR CURRENT CARRIER HAVEN’T EVEN COMPLETED THE YEAR.
    5. ADMINISTRATION NOR THE BOARD EXPLAIN THEIR ACTIONS. ON THIS DECISION. .
    6. AND BASED ON THE LINK FROM “FACTS!!!!” IT APPEARS THAT BOB AND SOME BOARD MEMBERS FROM THE WEST ARE “SOOL” OUT OF LUCK.
OUR COMMUNITY DOES NOT NEED THIS KIND OF ARROGANT NON-SENSE FROM THE SUPER OR THE BOARD.
IF FEEL VERY SOON THAT SOME BOARD MEMBERS AND ADMIN WILL BE DOING THE COTTON EYE JOE
THE WOLFMAN WILL BE VIDEO TAPING THE STORY SOON… THIS IS A FACT…..

Ok, if you read the article it is more than just filing suit. It is a legal Decisions that states that when Board member step out of their normal jobs then they are not protected under immunity. It further states that because the received bribes from Bob Trevino they will be liable and will not be given immunity for their action. It is a LEGAL DECISION not chesma or anything else. Next thing youll say is the video also on this website is a fake and men didn’t land on the moon. Let me make it simple NEW BOARD+OLD THREE+CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION+INURANCE OUT TO BID+VIDEO+LEGAL DECESION=CORRUPTION CORRUPTION CORRUPTION . Please tell that all the rest of us that live in San Benito are not that dumb.

@FACT!!!!: read the link and what? Just because somebody can file a suit doesn’t mean it’s true. In his country, you are innocent until proven guilty.
You sure are going out of your way on this matter. If you are so concern, then step out of the shadow you are in.

  5. The link attached to this blog will give you all the information you need to know when board members want to change insurance agents because of political contributions! Please take the time to read page 17-18, it will shed light on the ramifications of this dirty slimy move..

Mr Limon please follow the rules of engagement regarding Documentation. Verbal conversations don’t count. Be prepared to handle the Blunders you have created in our District.

A week or two ago I predicted The Granados Group to be on board our District to help with the insurance selection. I understand the cost is possibly $5000+-. Also, another insurance helper is your friend Mr Lorenzo Sanchez, the cost $5000 also. That’s a total of $10,000 of hard earn tax payer money going down the tube. Mr. Limon explain your actions for this decision? Oooh I know what your answer will be,is that the CFO is to busy to do the work. Mr. Limon that’s a Region One, watered down, piss poor answer. Cmon, maybe ask your buddy Mr Sanchez what flaws the current insurance has? Mr. Sanchez doesn’t even have an insurance background, no insurance license, but he was a clerk at Brownsville, maybe that makes him an expert.,

Maybe it’s time for you to seek work elsewhere, maybe at Region One. You will be happy there doing nothing.

Oh by the way, BOB just lost the first battle in court with the law suit he has in La Joya. And don’t try to fool us by maybe looking at Jeff, as the new agent. Those guys work as ONE.

If the new insurance rates your looking for are higher than what we currently have, you can mark another notch as a big blunder to our District.

  6. I disagree with you on one thing, Arnold is showing all his cards and proving to us all exactly what his made of. This mess was foreshadowed durning their election just look at who was backing them and that will tell you everything ( Chon, Lorenzo Sanchez,Ronnie Garcia, Tumberlinson, Bob Trevino) so that explains the corruption in our school district. Arnold aka Super Puppet will fold and Anna Cruz, Medrano,Mendez and Leal will seat back an watch with a smile. Meanwhile, our school district is going down fast and financial will be broke with all the consultants that have been hired by Limon. It’s simple folks ask for public information request and you will get a list of the consultants and their credentials along with their charge.. That’s where our tax dollars are going .. Thank you useless board!!!

True That!!………………….Why don’t YOU do a public information request and then enlighten us all with “a list of consultants and their credentials along with their charge” since you are the one so concerned. Prove to the public here that you are not just spreading “rumors and innuendos”. We all have a tendency to rant and rave but very few people actually back it up with web page links or verifiable data to back it up. I really would like to see this list of consultants if you could publish them here.

  7. Well, well , well it looks like Bob Trevino lost his appeal with his lawsuit in La Joya. He and the majority board members that made him agent of record are getting sued. This is the guy our public servants want to be our agent of record, what a joke. By this time, anything these board members do does not surprise me anymore. They have become a total disappointment( Arnold,Anna,Hector,Oscar and Mendez) we expected positive change and we got spit on by these clueless folks.. We are voting smart this next election.. Enough of this garbage!!!!

  8. Just another day in San Benito politics and personal agendas. Arnold brilliant comment in the news paper to allow for community response about the hiring of the super.. Hello we have spoken about the wonderful SIG insurance we have now and he ignored the 100 plus blogs that discredited his decision to take out insurance out for bid. Arnold is a total joke and thinks his smarter than a 5th grader but his showing us otherwise. Go ahead Arnold you, ann, Hector and Medrano owe it to Bob Trevino for lining your pockets.. But, this move will definitely cost us employees for money with horrible service..
