A recent San Benito High School graduate is in pursuit of greatness in mixed martial arts, and his goals do not seem too far out of reach.

Micky Gonzales, 20, competed in a MatShark Jiu-Jitsu Tournament at the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen on Saturday, Nov. 9, and came home with two gold medals and one silver.

“I ended up competing in four divisions,” said Gonzales. “I got gold in both of the Absolute [divisions], which is any weight, and I got silver in my division, which is from 156 to 170 (pounds).”
