At a familiar place, Lady ’Hound Stadium, the San Benito Lady ’Hounds came into Friday’s game in an unfamiliar place, fighting for the top spot instead of being safely on top.

The Lady ’Hounds faced the Brownsville Porter Lady Cowgirls for a battle for first place and came out defeated, 2-1. Porter has been undefeated thus far into the first round of district play while the Lady ’Hounds have fallen short to Weslaco as well.

“It was a good game against two good teams, errors and the lack of execution got us, someone has to lose and unfortunately it had to be us,” said longtime Lady ‘Hounds skipper Elias Martinez after Friday night’s contest against Porter.

  1. The second link was for a story that was cumulative of a recent string of victories. You just have to buy the paper or subscribe to the e-edition to read the rest.

But keep in mind that the games that weren’t published occurred around the time of Spring Break, when we’re without the services of writers who’re either teachers or students themselves.

I’m with you on needing to get the teams more coverage. Just understand that we can’t always be at every game. Not making excuses, just explaining why sometimes this occurs. In the meantime, I’d be more than willing to enlist the help of parents or students who’re at the games anyway and can help by reporting the results to us. I wouldn’t need the help anymore this year, but maybe around Spring Break next year you can give me a call, and I’ll put you to use. What do you say?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, by the way. I respect the passion you have for the team and we’ll do our best to get you more Lady ‘Hounds softball in the News.

First of all your second link doesn’t show who they played or who they beat! And another thing you didn’t publish three victories: (LOPEZ, LOS FRESNOS, and PACE!) Looks like someone is dropping ball (literally) in the sports section. Only one high school and about 3 or 4 sports in season and you can’t publish them! C’ mon San Benito News! Get with the program!
