WARWICK, RHODE ISLAND — State police here are investigating the death of a San Benito man believed to have been killed when he “exited” a moving vehicle while it was traveling on a busy Interstate Highway.
Rhode Island State Police said Wednesday that a man who somehow “exited” a moving car and was struck and killed on Interstate 95 in Warwick, RI.
State police said troopers responded to the crash at about 9:36 p.m. Tuesday in the southbound lanes.
Investigators said they believe the 33-year-old man from San Benito, was a passenger in a car.
“In the area of Route 37, the man exited the vehicle while in motion and was consequently struck by several other vehicles,” state police stated in a media release.
State police said the man died from his injuries. They did not specify how the man exited the car.
They did not release the man’s name.
The press statement specifies that the incident occurred on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, and that the Rhode Island State Police and Warwick Fire and Rescue responded to calls of a pedestrian being struck on the highway on Route 95 south in Warwick.
Troopers arrived on the scene, and, after an initial investigation, revealed that the 33-year-old man from San Benito was a passenger in a vehicle traveling southbound. “In the area of Route 37, the man exited the vehicle while in motion and was consequently struck by several other vehicles. The man died as a result of his injuries,” reads the press release.
