Woman accused of causing crash

LOS FRESNOS, TX—Cameron County Sherriff’s Deputies arrested a women accused of not only intentionally rear-ending her husband’s vehicle with her automobile, but allegedly doing so with their infant child inside her car.

According to a Cameron County Sherriff’s Office (CCSO) report, on Monday, January 29, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the intersection of FM 2893 and FM 1575 regarding an aggravated assault.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a 25-year-old male complainant who reported that his wife intentionally rear-ended his vehicle with her vehicle at the indicated Los Fresnos-area intersection.
The complainant reported he was at his friend’s house when he noticed his wife’s vehicle and left after she honked at him.

The male subject told deputies that he traveled to the intersection of FM 2893 and FM 1575 where his wife, identified as 31-year-old Larissa Rodriguez, allegedly crashed into his vehicle.

Sheriff’s deputies made contact with Rodriguez whom deputies say was providing them with an inconsistent statement. According to the report, deputies learned, through the investigation, that Rodriguez had her infant child in the vehicle when she allegedly caused the crash.

Deputies arrested Rodriguez and transported her to the Carrizales-Rucker Cameron County Detention Center in Olmito pending arraignment.

Rodriguez was charged with the offenses of Aggravated Assault; TPC: 22.02, a Second Degree Felony and Endangering a Child; TPC: 22.041, a State Jail Felony.

The CCSO report goes on to indicate that sheriff’s deputies reported the incident to Child Protective Services and released the child to family members.
