Debt turns physical

A reported $50 debt leads to an alleged physical altercation that ultimately concludes with an elderly man seeking medical attention and another male in handcuffs.

According to a Cameron County Sherriff’s Office (CCSO) report, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a business located on the 30000 block of FM 1479 in San Benito.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a 65-year-old male complainant. The male subject told deputies that 36-year-old Jesus Millazzo confronted him, accusing him of owing Millazzo $50.

The victim reported the he walked away from Millazzo, which caused Millazzo to become upset. According to the CCSO report, the complainant told deputies that Millazzo allegedly picked up a 2×4 piece of wood and used it to strike him in the back, causing subject pain and discomfort.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on the scene and evaluated the 65-year-old complainant. Sheriff’s deputies observed injuries on the victim, according to the report, and the weapon used in the commission of the alleged assault, all which corroborated the victim’s statement.

Sheriff’s deputies spoke to Millazzo who allegedly admitted to striking the victim with the stick because the victim refused to pay him the $50 owed.

According to the CCSO, sheriff’s deputies arrested Millazzo and transported him to the Carrizales-Rucker Cameron County Detention Center in Olmito pending arraignment. Millazzo was charged with Aggravated Assault; TPC: 22.02, a Second Degree Felony.
