The Texas Conjunto Hall of Fame & Museum is promoting its new membership drive, which will help fund the completion of its museum projects in anticipation of the grand opening at the Azteca Building on Robertson Street.

These projects include the recreation of a recording room as well as the construction of a performance stage on the museum’s grounds.

“What we are doing is actually using those funds towards the expansive transition from the museum we had to what we’re moving into,” said Vice President Pete Avila. “We probably had about 650 square feet before; we’ve gained 2,500 square feet, so we’ve more than doubled the museum space. This has allowed us to have dedicated sections.”

The layout currently begins with the reception area that leads right into a re-creation of a recording studio. This would allow visitors to experience what recording conjunto music in the early days of the genre was like.

Past the live room will be a reenactment of the Rio Grande music company; opposite that room will be a tiny room providing a history of the Aztec Building accompanied by miniature renderings completed by students.

Past that section will be the pioneer room, which will be dedicated to all 70 pioneers inducted into the Conjunto Hall of Fame, with dedicated sections for seven conjunto pioneers who have provided artifacts, such as clothing, to the museum, which will require mannequins.
