Officials discuss 2023 projects

The City of San Benito is anticipating several major projects in 2023, which leaders wish to address with the State Delegation later this year.

According to Public Relations Director David Favila, City Manager Manuel De La Rosa provided a list “to start important discussions to improve the quality of life of our residents and corporations.”
The project list is as follows:

1. Funding for a new Library or new building adjacent to the existing library to increase services to both the City citizens and area citizens of Cameron County

2. Funding for a new Public Safety Training and Support Services Center for utilization by the San Benito Police and the San Benito Fire

3. Funding for a new fire station (Station #3)

4. Funding for a City of San Benito and Cameron County Irrigation District #3 project to collaborate on dredging the irrigation canal, also known by the name: Resaca

5. Funding for a citywide Master Drainage Study and Mitigation Plan

6. Funding for the purchase of land, engineering-related services, and construction of Regional Storm Water Detention Ponds
