\Working for the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District (SBCISD) is going to pay off for current and future employees.

Abraham Gallegos, the director of administrative services for the district, is proposing a plan that will benefit those with tenure and who are planning to retire from the district.

He said the current policy stipulates 30 years of service with the last 10 years of consecutive service to be eligible for additional compensation.

“In our view, 30 years is excessive,” he said. “What we are proposing is a system with different brackets.”
Under it, Gallegos broke it down in three categories:

• An employee with 15 to 19 years will receive 20 days of his or her daily rate.
• An employee with 20 to 24 years will get 25 days.
• An employee with the 25 years of more will get 30 days.
