DOUBLE ARREST
On November 22, Cameron County Sheriff’s Investigators, along with Homeland Security Investigations and the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office, executed a Federal Arrest Warrant for Juan Jose Cindo. Cindo Resides at the 100 Block of Rebecca Lane in San Benito.
At the residence, investigators detained Juan Jose Cindo, 43-years-old, and Jeannette Medrano, 42-years-old. According to a sheriff’s office report, initially, Cindo denied having anything illegal inside his residence. However, upon consenting to a search of his residence, investigators located 5.5 Kilograms of Cocaine inside a “vanity room,” the sheriff’s office report states.
Cindo was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations due to the outstanding Federal Warrant. Medrano was arrested and charged with Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance (First Degree Felony).
Medrano was transported and booked into CRDC. Investigation is ongoing.
SMUGGLING CHARGES
On November 24, Cameron County Sheriff’s Investigators, along with U.S Border Patrol Agents, apprehended a male subject who was caught crossing large bundles in the Los Indios area, according to a statement from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office.
U.S Border Patrol attempted to make contact with the male, but he jumped over the border wall and fled the scene. The male was caught moments later without further incident, the sheriff’s statement reads. The large bundles were tested and came back positive for marijuana. A total of 121.5 pounds of marijuana were seized.
