Treviño comments on white paper

Special to the NEWS

SAN ANTONIO—On Nov. 15, The Texas Border Coalition (TBC) published a white paper designed to provide a policy framework for reform of America’s immigration and border management system.

Texas border mayors, county judges and economic development commissions hope the white paper released during the coalition’s annual meeting in San Antonio will spur a robust national debate that results in bipartisan, incremental reform of the U.S. immigration system during the lame-duck session of Congress, according to a press release from TBC.

“TBC is pleased to publish this paper detailing our views on immigration and border management – key issues that divide the nation today,” El Paso County Commissioner and TBC Chairman David Stout, said. “To begin, however, it is important to understand the history that brought our state and nation to this point today. Much of what people know to be true may not be historically accurate.”
