It’s round two.

The San Benito CISD Board of Trustees will again meet behind closed doors to decide a lone finalist for the position of superintendent of schools.

Trustees will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 at the SBCISD John F. Barron Administration Building, located at 240 N. Crockett St. in San Benito, when board members will meet in closed session to determine a lone finalist.

Last week, the board met in special meetings, also in closed session, on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to interview applicants and discuss the selection of finalists. It was on Thursday that the board took no action.

As per the agenda, this Thursday’s meeting includes: “possible naming of lone finalist for the position of superintendent.”

Board secretary Oscar Medrano said, “It’s going great, we should have a finalist by Thursday, hopefully.”

If such a finalist is chosen, Medrano said, “We’ll announce to the public on Thursday.”

He added, “I can’t guarantee that, but we’re going to meet in executive session and hopefully we’ll have a finalist.”

Over recent weeks, the board has mulled over more than 49 applicants. It’s unclear how many of those applicants were selected as finalists over the past week’s meetings, or how many of those remain in consideration for Thursday’s session.

Fellow trustee Yliana González also weighed in on the proceedings.

“Personally, I feel very optimistic with what the outcome will be,” González said.

When asked about whether she’s confident that a lone finalist will be named Thursday, Gonzalez said, “I wouldn’t be able to answer, but there is a meeting scheduled.”

Gonzalez also said she could not share how many finalists are currently being considered.

21 days – test him for Ebola. We don’t need him being the one that brings it down here.

Mr. Limon May be getting a huge salary but it will be nothing compared to the new supt from a small small town that was just announced.
He has ties to a big cowboy town. Those ladies cannot keep a secret. The two “T” are loving this mess.
That new program worth $800,000 will not stand the test….. Just watch what happens in the next two months when budget meetings start.. Sorry mrs Cruz, you should have known better with all your education.

What do you mean “no money”, SBCISD will have two persons earning a superintendent’s salary. The new one, and the one who was just moved to an administrator’s position. The latter is only for two years though, and that’s if he decides to retire. What a favor the board and this individual did for the students.
