A San Benito man was found dead Monday, June 30, hanging from a noose. Although the death appeared to be a suicide, local authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter before concluding cause of death.

A source close to the family of the deceased has identified the body in question as Juan Miguel Rodriguez of San Benito.

Michael Galvan, Assistant Operations Chief of the San Benito Police Department, did not wish to comment on the matter, stating only the following: “At this time, there are still a lot of unanswered questions.”

Authorities are currently questioning the deceased’s next of kin in an attempt to rule out homicide. Results of autopsy and toxicology reports are still pending.

In addition, family members have indicated their alleged intention to transport the body to Mexico for burial.
