There has been a large outpouring of criticism made against Veterans Affairs medical centers throughout the United States after numerous reports have indicated that veterans seeking various forms of treatment through the clinics have had to endure lengthy wait times.
“I am horrified by reports that our veterans in the Valley are waiting months for appropriate healthcare,” said State Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. (D-Brownsville) in a prepared statement. “It’s simply unconscionable. There are at least 100,000 veterans living in the Rio Grande Valley, and we have a moral obligation to ensure they have access to appropriate care.”
