President Obama: LF students, app creators ‘have big hearts’

President Barack Obama praised the efforts of Los Fresnos CISD’s Resaca Middle School students for their efforts in creating an app to assist the visually impaired navigate their campus.

President Barack Obama mentioned Los Fresnos CISD campus Resaca Middle School and the “Hello Navi” team during his speech at the White House Science Fair Tuesday.

At his press conference about the event, the President mentioned seven schools and their projects, first mentioning Resaca Middle School and Los Fresnos. The speech was about one minute long.

“We had the all-girls App Team from Resaca Middle School in Los Fresnos, Texas,” President Obama said at the conference. “So one of their classmates, an outstanding young man Andres Salas, is visually impaired. So they designed an app to help him navigate their school and other buildings.”
