SBCISD Superintendent Antonio G. Limón

SBCISD Superintendent Antonio G. Limón

The San Benito CISD Board of Trustees will be presented with a status report on Tuesday regarding the investigation into suspended San Benito CISD Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón—this after the probe has entered its eighth month and exceeded nearly $8,000 in legal expenses.

Houston-based law firm Guerra and Farah PLLC was hired by the Board at $150 per hour to conduct the investigation into Limón, including up to 64 allegations levied against the suspended superintendent before reportedly narrowing the accusations down to single digits.

With three candidates looking to unseat a long time incumbant, the place 5 race proves to be an uphill battle. With a winner take all race, it will be interesting to see the distribution of votes. It appears the other hopefuls have ties to certain factions.

  1. @ Fact 2,
Its all about giving someone else an opportunity that wants to give his time to make a difference.FACT is it cant get any worse than Medrano.. Orlando Papas from what I’ve heard an seen is running a clean and positive campaign and his picking up a lot of support. Bottom line we can debate all day long but the fact is Orlando is an educated professional who’s riding no ones coat tails and is very positive.. My vote is for Orlando Papas Lopez and thats a fact!

    RE: Fact

Medrano “listens” and “cares”. Perhaps. But that is about it. I agree he, if you break it down, does not stand for anything worth children to look up to. I also agree with you that the potato man will probably win. But, the potato man doesn’t stand for anything worth children to look up either.

    RE: Spurs

Smart of her to put “independent” on her campaign signs. Hopefully that is true and she isn’t affiliated or controlled by any of the current or future board members.

  2. Medrano, Tumberlinson’s puppet will be dethrone easily. Medrano does not stand for anything worth my children to look up too, and his trying to be a fixture politically in our town. People must want political favors, corruption, and the only reason they want him on the board! I don’t know Orlando Papas Lopez but he’ll win for sure because Oscar is a has been-period.. People please vote for real people that stand for positive change not self gain..

Perhaps voters should vote out all board members up for re-election and let new candidates take over. Then, evaluate the board when the next set of elections come around. Fix what’s broken; leave alone what isn’t. Previous members voted out should not be allowed to re-run for Board until after 2 elections pass.

    RE: Telling The Truth

Thank you for the update. I hope he does so too. Many school district employees buzz around saying the same thing about a lawsuit against individual Board members. Buzz is this is the precise reason why the Super was suspended w/ pay and not fired – in fear of a lawsuit. Similarly, the same can be said for the Board hiring firm(s) to hire the new AD/HC. The Board wanted power and ability to do such things, which is why they took the power to hire/fire away from the Super to begin with. However, they did not have the guts to say “no, you are not good enough for the job” to certain individuals who applied for the job because they were afraid to lose the individual’s vote and their family’s vote come election time. Thus, the reason for hiring outside firm(s).

    RE: Taxpayers Demand Board Update

    “ATTN: SBCISD Board President

As a citizen of San Benito and taxpayer, I demand an update on the Superintendent probe. Not at your convenience, but ASAP – for the sake of the students of the SBCISD and taxpayers. The students and taxpayers that are being affected by the money being spent by you and the school board. The students and taxpayers are being affected by the things you and your school board are doing.”

Any word on what happened last night at the school board meeting?
Were expectations met (“Board expects super probe update”)?
    Yliana?
    June?
    Julian?
    Fatima?
    Oscar?
    Hector?
    Anna?
    Anyone?

According to informed sources the 64 allegations against the superintendent are down to two. The board president and the other three went crazy coming up with allegations but when investigated they didn’t hold water. It was a plain and simple political vendetta organized by the board president and former Maintenance Director that now has a son running for board. By the way his son in law a retire/rehire was also hired by the board. After all the waste of money on this issue the conversation in central office was that the remaining two allegations will also not hold water. What a waste of money! I hope the suspended superintendent sues them individually.

    R. G. G. & FORUM READERS

I would never personally demean or discredit any person because they have a “college degree”. I use the words “college degree” and not “educated”, because if you have a high school diploma, you are “educated”. The thing we need to realize is we shouldn’t base our decision to vote for someone solely because of a “college degree”. Having a “college degree” is just a small part of what makes up a person. What we really need is for voters to make “educated choices” in their candidates. Personally, just because a person has a “college degree” does not automatically make them a good person; (that would be gullible) lots of criminals have “college degrees” too, so careful what you’re saying about “qualified candidates” (implying that people who don’t have a “college degree” are not smart enough to sit on the school board of trustees). There are a lot of voters out there who don’t have “college degrees” or even high school diplomas, but the so-called “Educated” candidates will be looking to them for votes, right? The last time I checked, having a “college degree” was not a requirement to be a School Board Trustee. Let’s not be disrespectful now. Tisk, Tisk…

Making “educated choices” means finding out what the candidates stand for, do they have life experience or are they fresh out of high school? Do they have so much experience that it makes you wonder about stability? (They didn’t stay in one place long enough to make it count) Are they good leaders or are they followers that are afraid to speak, do they have common sense, do they have people skills, what kind of values do they have, is their heart in the right place??? Are they being backed by a group, if so which group; how much control will this group have in decision making? Are they willing to work with other board members even if they are from opposite sides? These are just some of the questions we should be asking ourselves when considering who we will be voting for, and if they also happen to have a “college degree” then GREAT. Voting in a person with these qualities will help the district and everyone in it too; so don’t just look at the “college degree”, look beyond that, and find out who this person is and what they are about.

It’s no secret that over the past few years San Benito has become the laughing stock of the Valley, and if you’ve been reading the blogs in this forum then you also know that many of us are fed up! As voters this is where we have to be careful, because we could very easily fall into a trap. How? We are so eager for change, that who we vote in could be worse than who we vote out; remember, the board is already divided 4/3 and we all know what side “4” is, so if we vote for “change” that “4” could become a “7”. Then where will we be!!!
So let’s find out who the candidates really are; if they come knocking at your door, have a conversation with them, and ask questions on the issues that are important to you.

And most important of all….Please VOTE!!!

    Truth be Told:

In any election, game, divorce, trial, there is always the winner and the loser; and I am not 100% sure that the candidates that I am campaigning for are going to win. I am campaigning and hoping that the citizens vote for the most qualified candidates this time around; very simple. And I have proudly campaigned for candidates like I mentioned in my previous blog and will continue to do. I am an individual that struggles like a lot of people. An individual that wants the best opportunities for the students of SBCISD. An individual that learned a lot from her late husband Eloy Garcia Jr. (former school teacher) to stand up and speak for what is right. I am not an individual that is frightened or intimidated as you mentioned. You, I, or anyone else regardless of whom they support should never, ever, feel frightened. I am amazed with persons like Rosa Parks who said, “no, I am not giving up my seat”!

Yes! Educated! And very much so! They spent a lot of hours educating themselves and no one, absolutely no one, can take that on their campaign and state that they are not; and professionalism and respected they are. They have worked for their degree, they have worked hard for what they have earned. And no one, absolutely no one, can say otherwise. And that previous board member you are referring to by a letter “T” is Bob Tumberlinson. Years back I had a different impression of him without really knowing him. One day I saw Sandra and him placing signs on his first election campaign and said to myself, “I would like to help them”, but did not at that time. Through Oscar Medrano and Joyce Aguirre I got to meet and know Mr. Tumberlinson a little better. I noticed how much interest they had for the city through their voluntary work in various organizations. And finally, I have seen how much time they have given to campaigns in hopes of having candidates like Medrano, Smetter, Llanes, and others before them, like DelaFuente and Villarreal, etc. I personally am thankful and so are others.

Fact: I and others went to Mr. Tumberlinson and asked if he could meet and speak with candidates and discuss the odds of winning when several would be challenging Julian Huerta for his seat. Don’t start spreading rumors like someone by the name of Chuy does at the board meetings! Punto Y Final!!!

Rosalinda, your thankful for having oscar de la fuente? OSCAR DE LA FUENTE IS THE BIGGEST CROOK SAN BENITO HAS EVER HAD! He should be locked up, he admitted that he’s a crook. From what I remember about Bob T. , him giving special treatment to his wife, when she did wrong is not someone I want in office. This coming election we need to see what these new candidates have to offer, and if they keep us in the same boat then they Will have to go. Lets see what happens first and if san benito can actually have more than 100 people vote

I have been watching the youtube channel. The board meetings are interesting. Julian and Fatima don’t speak. June repeats herself several times and does all the speaking (in abundance). Yliana has to make more motions than she should ( something the board president shouldn’t do) to be sure they are what she wants. Turth be Told she is the brains of the organization wanting to please vendors and get the most of her position.

Solution could be coming May 10, 2014 if voters of San Benito vote for educated and qualified candidates this time around. And not like last election when they did not re-elect Bob Tumberlinson, nor did they elect Wilma Smetter,PhD, or Ana Llanes who also has a degree. . Several people voted for the majority board candidates
because they knew them and not because they were most qualified. And there your have the rest of the story…

@ “Rosie” – Educated? Really? If they are so educated then why is there a certain incumbent wiith previous board members (T) parading around the city telling certain board trustee’s and city candidates to step down because “this is not your year to run” or “you cannot run because we are pushing for this candidates (angels above us)”.
Realy? Does that sound educated? Wow! So educated- you’d think they’d be a little more discreet!
Sounds like fear. What they should do is focus on their own campaign and take a stab at anything to try to discredit other candidates.

Your right , May 10, 2014 cant come soon enough! We need to get rid of these people that think they can control everything!

Lets get the whole board out cause none of them are angels. Don’t fool yourself by segragating the school board that these are angels. For a fact, none of them are. Clean house and lets get this school board going in the right direction before the school runs out of funds to keep on functioning.

Rosie….FYI……when Limon took helm scores went down from “recognized” to “acceptable”. When new board members came in the first score was “recognized”. They came in to shake things up and some slackers started teaching again……there is no room for “social circles” when students aren’t being successful.

Please show us the stats because I don’t remember it that way. I’m not saying you’re wrong. I really need to see the proof. Since you mentioned it, please show us. Also, don’t forget that there have been changes in how the state holds school districts accountable as well as a school that took many of our wonderfully brilliant students. All of this plays a major role in scoring.
