Man hospitalized after driving car into canal

A 22-year-old man remains hospitalized with what San Benito police said were “multiple injuries” as well as head trauma after the vehicle he was driving was found submerged in water.

Detective Rogelio Banda Jr. of the San Benito Police Department reported that the man, who has yet to be identified, was driving a 2010 silver Chevrolet Cobalt and traveling northbound on FM 510 in San Benito when he struck the guardrail. The incident occurred at 5:41 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27.
