Gabriel Borja, the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District security officer accused of taking a firearm to Veterans Memorial Academy in April spoke candidly Thursday regarding the allegations levied against him.

Borja, 24, responded to concerns from his fellow SBCISD guards who, speaking under anonymity, have called for the security officer’s termination for allegedly bringing a handgun to the VMA freshmen campus on April 3. However, Borja argued that the information cited in the incident report was inaccurate, alleging that the district police officer who filed the report, John Espinoza, and the reporting person, fellow guard Angelita Abrego, have targeted him.
