Hopefuls vie for RH city, school board

Elections graphicRIO HONDO – The community of Rio Hondo is abuzz with seven competitive races in the school district and municipal general elections.

Six candidates make up the field of hopefuls in the City of Rio Hondo May 11 election, including what is arguably the most anticipated of the races in Mayor Alonzo Garza Sr. vying for reelection against Place 1 Commissioner Gustavo “Gus” Olivares.

Running for reelection to the Pl. 2 post is incumbent Rick Tello, who faces challenger and former commissioner Anita Lozano. Plc. 4 incumbent Miguel “Mike” Uresti will also face a challenger in the form of a former member of the commission, Kitter Huerta.
