A San Benito man wanted for the alleged sexual assault of a child is the Cameron County District Attorney’s Fugitive of the Week after failing to appear at a hearing on April 18, 2012.

Thirty-year-old Eric Lugo, who according to the DA’s office also goes by Eric Lugo-Rocha, was initially arrested on December 12, 2011, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl on November 10 of that year.

According to Public Information Officer Melissa A. Zamora of the DA’s office, Lugo posted bond of $75,000 on March 1, 2012, and was scheduled to appear for arraignment on April 18, but he never showed up.

Lugo is described as being approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. He was last spotted in San Benito.

Anyone with information pertaining to Lugo’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact Chief Investigator George DeLaunay with the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office by calling (956) 544-0849 or e-mail districtattorney@co.cameron.tx.us.
