I’m sorry to hear that. However, keep in mind that holding the Stations of the Cross at a different time of the year would defeat the purpose of observing such an event. This is a customary tradition observed by Catholics and multiple faiths during Easter weekend because it’s in relation to Easter.
Although you do make a point regarding sidewalks. That’s long been an issue of concern in the city, one that we’ve run multiple stories addressing.
My poor 88 year old mother went to this service expecting it to be inside the church. She has breathing problems and had to leave because it was held outside in the humidity and heat. She tried her best to keep up with the event but could not do so. Shouldn’t outside activities be held at cooler times of the year? She also has a walker and could not use it well on the uneven pavement. Also, there are no sidewalks in San Benito for pedestrians. I would like to see some open trails and bike paths too!
