Maria R. Cantu, 74, of San Benito, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Solara Hospital in Harlingen, Texas.
After 20 years of teaching in Soledad, California, Maria retired and moved back to her native San Benito.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Cantu.
She is survived by her four children: Reymundo R. (Martha) Cantu, Reynaldo Cantu, Rosemary (Rafael Sojka) Cantu, and Juan Cantu, Jr; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Maria is also survived by two brothers, Demeterio Rodriguez and Jose Rodriguez; and two sisters, Aurelia Mancillas and Chelo Chavez.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.
Mass of resurrection will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. Committal service will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
