San Benito wrestlers compete at state, powerlifters victorious

HoundsThis weekend, the San Benito Greyhounds powerlifting team traveled to Lyford and took first place at the Willacy County Invitational Meet.

JR Torres, Aaron Robles, Julio Rivas, Pedro Lozano and Mike Benavidez each earned gold with their first place performances. Ernie Sandell earned the silver medal with a second place finish. Right behind Sandell came Arturo Rosales in third place in the 148 weight class, and Jose Gonzalez placed third in the 198 weight class.

Torres, Sandell, Rivas, Lozano and Benavides all qualified for the regional powerlifting to be held at Weslaco East High School on March 10.
