Although questions surfaced in late 2010 as to San Benito High School Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Spencer Gantt’s future as a Greyhound, school district officials were quick to dispel as much on Monday.
San Benito CISD Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón said Gantt will stay Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for the remainder of his contract, this after a tumultuous 2010 football season that saw the Greyhounds go 4-6 overall and lose in the first round of the playoffs after squeaking into the fourth spot.
“Teachers contracts as well as (Gantt’s) don’t come up until March,” said Limón. “Coach Gantt is under contract for this year and one more year after this. His contract, like all contracts, will be up for review in March, and we intend to honor his contract.”
