Greyhounds come up short against Panthers

Four consecutive quarters in which the offense struggled has now resulted in two losses for the San Benito Greyhounds in District 32-5A play this year as they fell at home to the Weslaco Panthers Tuesday night, 53-46.

“In this district you have to show up every night,” said Head Coach Eddie Abrego. “And you have to show up for every quarter or you’re going to get beat. It’s that simple with a district that is so even.”

The Greyhounds’ first loss in district play came at the hands of the Los Fresnos Falcons. In that game the team played well in the first half and held a lead into the third quarter before the offense stalled. Things got worse in the fourth quarter and they fell in a game that could have been won. Tuesday night the offensive woes continued from the opening tip off right through the second quarter as they took on the Panthers.
