A San Benito man wanted for sexually assaulting an underage girl remains on the loose as police continue to track down leads as to his whereabouts.
As previously reported by the News, the San Benito Police Department (SBPD) is encouraging those who may have information as to the whereabouts of Martin Pineda, 41, in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.
There are two outstanding warrants for Pineda stemming from an incident that occurred on Oct. 1, 2010. While it went unreported until Jan. 7 of this year, SBPD Lieutenant Martin Morales said it was normal in similar cases. Citing “delayed outcries,” Morales said victims of sexual assault are often in shock and in fear or perhaps would feel ashamed to tell their parents.
