SBYBSL contending with low registration

baseballSan Benito Youth Baseball/Softball League (SBYBSL) President Frank Garza has mixed feelings about the way certain things have transpired for the league this year.

“At this point it’s going well. It’s not where I would like for it to be, but we’ve only had two registrations and we have three more ahead of us. I do expect an increase (in registration). I’ve already had some parents call me asking about the registration dates and other information, so that sounds promising,” Garza said before calculating that under 60 kids have registered thus far.

Garza hopes to register as many kids as possible. The SBYBSL has normally had anywhere from 500 to 700 kids registered every year.

“At this point it’s just under 60 (kids registered) for right now, because on the first day that we had registration it was bad weather. That limited anyone coming out. During the second registration, we did get a significant amount of kids come to register,” said Garza.
