The fourth annual Texas Independence Day is slated for this Friday and Saturday, March 9-10 in honor of the fallen soldiers who fought for Texas’ freedom.
The actual date of Independence is March 2, in which this past year the state celebrated its 176th anniversary. “This event should be an important part of everyone’s lives,” said Jack Ayoub of the Texas Heritage and Independence Celebration Association (THICA).
On Friday night, Borderland Calvary Chapel will present an outdoor viewing of the Billy Bob Thornton film, “The Alamo” free to the public at 6:30 p.m. Then on Saturday, as Jack stated, is when the celebration really begins.
