RIO HONDO – A Lozano man accused of forging over $4,000 in checks is behind bars.
According to Jose Zamorano, investigator for Precinct 4 Cameron County Constable Robert Lopez, 43-year-old Ernesto Escamilla of Lozano has been accused of taking another man’s checkbook and using it to write hot checks.
The constable’s department was first notified of the matter on Jan. 26, when authorities received a report in reference to a forgery case that stemmed from earlier that month.
