For years, the San Benito CISD has implemented programs to help students who come from Migrant families assimilate to the classrooms as best as possible. For the past seven years, through a program called “A Bright Beginning,” the District has offered migrant families an early childhood education implemented for children starting at ages three and up. The program is designed to foster oral language and early literacy development in migrant students who don’t get the same type of educational services as other students.
This year, the local program will be implemented at La Paloma Elementary and Landrum Elementary, with all migrant children who are three years of age by September 1 being eligible for participation. The child’s family, however, must have migrant eligibility in order for the child to be considered for admission into the program.
