Revolver-wielding suspect sought

San Benito police are seeking the public’s assistance in the apprehension of an individual they say attempted to gain entrance of a vehicle upon wielding a possible firearm.

According to San Benito Police Department (SBPD) officials, on Monday, November 20, 2023, at approximately 10:28 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of S. Dick Dowling St. in reference to a suspicious male with a gun.

The victim informed the dispatcher the male attempted to gain entry into her car, but she managed to drive away. The victim indicated that the gun appeared to be a black revolver. When officers arrived to the area, they located a second victim who advised police that the male attempted to gain entry into their vehicle as well.

Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. During the course of the investigation, officers discovered that the suspect used a stolen credit card to make a purchase at a business located at the 600 block of S Reagan St. Officers were able to acquire a photo of the suspect from the surveillance system.
