The City of San Benito announced on Wednesday that Anibal Garcia was recently promoted to Assistant Public Works Director.
Garcia, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, was hired as the City’s Capital Improvement Project Coordinator in July 2022 and currently serves as Interim Public Works Director.
After his military service, where he was as an Auxiliary Machinist Mate, Garcia was a Waste Water Plant Operator with the City of San Benito from 2018-2019, read a statement by the city.
He then continued his education, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Management from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas.
Afterward, he accepted a position as an engineering technician with Vanguard Resources in Brownsville where he was responsible for monitoring and overseeing all infrastructure improvement projects.
