Two new principals have been approved by the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees.
Marcus Ysasi is now the new head at the high school while Dr. Lucas Gomez took the helm at La Paloma Elementary. The two came on board following a closed–door session during a special meeting of the board held Thursday, Jan. 26.
Superintendent Theresa Servellon made a motion to name the two and the board unanimously approved her motions. Ysasi, a former middle school principal with another district, is the third principal at the San Benito High School in less than year.
The Raymondville native, who started his education career with the Mount Pleasant school district, served as assistant principal with Harts Bluff ISD, also in Mount Pleasant.
His career includes serving one year as principal of Riverside Middle School here in San Benito. He went back to Mount Pleasant to work as principal for Chapel Hill High School in 2016-2022.
He is currently working toward a doctoral degree in educational administration from Texas A&M University.
According to biographical information provided by the school district, Ysasi was instrumental in the creation of a number of programs while at Chapel Hill School such as the early college academy.
