Doing business with the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District will follow a different path from now on.

First, following the guidelines of the Texas Government Code will be strictly enforced in order to protect the district and to benefit the community.

That is what the district board of trustees learned during a workshop held Tuesday night.
Eddie Cavazos, the district’s purchasing director, informed the board of the ups and downs when it comes to purchasing goods and services from companies or people doing business with them.

The workshop covered an array of topics such as competitive bidding, interlocal agreements, construction procurement for design and building, technology purchasing, district policies, scoring and training sessions for employees, among other things.

Cavazos emphasized that following the Texas Government is a must, as the district is a government entity.
For example, after bids have been received for a specific construction project, a committee will review them and submit its findings within a 45-day period.
