Office pranks are a funny thing. Over the course of this week, we’ve continuously played pranks on one of our co-workers, Robert Perez, by putting random fliers on his car.

We’ve put Scientology newsletters and dating site fliers on his windshield. He has yet to find out who the culprit is, and just when he thinks he has it all figured out, we throw a curveball.

This is all done in good fun, of course. He doesn’t know who exactly is messing with him, but he will find out it’s my doing as soon as he reads this column.

It reminds me of another fun office prank I played on my old co-worker Darlene. She was the receptionist at an old real estate office I used to work at. One day, she sent me a screenshot of her awesome accomplishments in FarmVille, an old Facebook game created by Zynga that was popular around 2009 to 2010.

She boasted about how awesome she was, so I printed it out and told her I’d put it on the bulletin board at work to show off how proud we both were of her accomplishments. Of course, she didn’t want anyone to see she’d been playing on Facebook, so she took it down before anyone could see it. Like Robert’s case, this was all in good fun and we both got a laugh out of it.

I once saw a red dot floating around on the surface of my desk and laptop. I was working at the time, but I’d see it quickly, and it stuck around just long enough to make me ask myself, “Did I just see a laser?” I’d turn around in hopes of catching the culprit, but I kept missing them.

Then there was the time someone put a dead cockroach on a friend’s phone receiver. She was – to put it mildly, not very happy.

Today, I was the guy tasked with carrying a giant house spider that was approximately two inches in leg-span outside, because people tend to get uneasy around eight-legged bugs. What goes around comes around, right?

But hey, in our line of work, these sort of things help ease the tension a bit when deadlines, judges and conspiracy theorists become a source of frustration.

So…what kind of fun office pranks have you pulled? Shoot us a letter to the editor, either to letters@sbnewspaper.com or editor@sbnewspaper.com, and let us know. We’re interested in hearing what our readers have to share.
