Special to the NEWS

A popular eatery is about to open its doors in San Benito, looking to create approximately 90 new jobs in town.

A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving guests in San Benito on September 18 at 6:30 a.m. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Valley native Stephanie Champion to serve as the local owner-operator of Chick-fil-A San Benito.

Located at 1062 W Business 77, Chick-fil-A San Benito will serve guests Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., offering dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out, catering, and mobile thru.

The restaurant will feature an indoor playground for guests with families. Chick-fil-A San Benito brings approximately 90 jobs to the community and joins six other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving Cameron County, according to a corporate press release.

To celebrate the restaurant moving into town, Champion and her team are inviting the community to show off their cow spots on opening day for one free entrée* or kid’s meal.

Locally Owned and Operated
“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to return to the Valley where I grew up and open a Chick-fil-A restaurant in San Benito, a community with incredible potential for growth,” said Champion. “My hope is to create a place where guests feel not only cared for but truly at home, and where team members are empowered with opportunities to grow, succeed, and thrive within their own community.

Chick-fil-A has made such a profound impact on my life, and my mission is to create opportunities that will change lives for generations to come.”

Raised in Alamo, Texas, Champion began her Chick-fil-A journey as a Team Member, where she also met her husband, Nathan.

Along her journey, she discovered a passion for education and making a positive impact in the community.

She and her husband, who will also be actively involved in the restaurant, live in San Juan and are deeply connected to the Valley, where both of their families still reside.

Caring for the San Benito Community
Champion is committed to giving back to the San Benito community by celebrating the opening with a $25,000 donation from Chick-fil-A, Inc. to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the greater Harlingen area to aid in the fight against hunger, she said.

The store is also participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, which redirects surplus food to local nonprofits, helping to create over 42 million meals nationwide to date.
