The San Benito City Commission held its regular meeting on April 2, 2024, at the San Benito Annex Building Number 2 Meeting Hall. The meeting commenced with a roll call, the pledge, and an invocation, followed by the presentation of two proclamations.
The first proclamation honored Juana “Juanita” Gaytan for reaching her centennial milestone and celebrating her life. The second proclamation declared April 2024 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the city, highlighting the community’s commitment to safeguarding children’s well-being.
During the public comments segment, citizens were given the opportunity to address both non-agenda and agenda items, with each speaker allotted three minutes to express his or her viewpoints. The meeting progressed to presentations, with the City of San Benito’s monthly financials for February 2024 discussed.
The agenda included several consent items, each subject to approval by the City Commission through a single motion. These items encompassed various matters such as the approval of meeting minutes from previous sessions, requests for property rezoning, easements, replatting, payments to vendors for services rendered, and approval of agreements.
The consent agenda items were approvals for the Second and Final Reading of Ordinance Number 2252-K-03-2024, a request for property rezoning, and considerations for payment to vendors for services rendered.
Additionally, discussions were held regarding a subscription agreement between the San Benito Police Department and Interactive Data, LLC, regarding the use of the idiCORE intelligence gathering service.
Finally, the City Commission discussed purchasing Flygt Submersible Pumps from Xylem Water Solutions USA, Inc., for the City of San Benito Wastewater Treatment Plant. As recommended by Hanson Professional Services, Inc., payment number seven to Ferguson Service Systems, Inc., regarding the Stenger Surge Tank Lift Station Improvements Project, was also considered. After which, the meeting was adjourned.
