Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies executed a number of area arrests this week in separate incidents.
WARRANT SERVED
According to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), on February 14, 2024, Cameron County Deputies made contact with a complainant who filed a report alleging Indecency with a Child by Contact.
According to a CCSO report, deputies were informed by the complainant that the individual viewed a social media post by Kaylnn Kuhn in which Kuhn was allegedly using the hand of victim in a sexual manner.
CCSO investigators initiated an investigation into the alleged offense. According to the report, a forensic interview was conducted where the victim is said to have recalled being eight or nine years of age when the offense occurred. Pieces of evidence were gathered during the course of the investigation, the report reads.
On March 12, 2024, investigators secured an arrest warrant for Kuhn for the offense of Indecency w/Child Sexual Contact (2024XARW0057).
On March 14, 2024, investigators served said warrant in San Benito. Kuhn was arrested and transported to the Cameron County, Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito for incarceration. The investigation is ongoing, according to the CCSO.
CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 3:13 p.m. Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of TX HW 100 and FM 803 in Los Fresnos, on a black Chrysler for Operation of a Vehicle Without License Plate (TTC 504.943).
According to the CCSO, upon the stop, deputies made contact with the operator of the vehicle who identified himself and provided financial responsibility for the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop however, deputies made contact with the passenger of the vehicle who identified himself as Anthony Rondon.
While conducting the roadside interview, deputies identified specific behaviors from the occupants that led them to believe they were concealing something illegal within the vehicle, read a CCSO report. Deputies were granted consent to search the vehicle, according to the report.
Upon a thorough search of the vehicle, deputies allegedly located a green jar inside of a black backpack located in the trunk of the vehicle along with a THC pen. Inside of the jar was a usable amount of THC wax.
Rondon was read his Miranda Warnings, according to the CCSO, and allegedly claimed ownership of the THC pen (6gr.) Rondon was arrested and transported to Cameron County, Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito for booking.
According to the CCSO, deputies were granted consent to search the vehicle by the operator, Brett Trapp. Trapp was also arrested and transported to Cameron County, Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito for booking.
ALLEGED THEFT
On February 21, 2024, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call in Los Fresnos, in reference to a past theft. Deputies established contact with a subject who stated his ARLO camera system with solar panel was allegedly taken without his consent from his construction site.
The subject provided security footage to deputies and further informed them the camera was still actively recording and had a GPS system.
Deputies learned from the GPS location that the ARLO camera was located in San Benito. Deputies were able to recover the ARLO camera at location; and, through a witness interview, a suspect was ascertained.
CCSO Investigators subsequently launched an investigation into the alleged theft of the ARLO camera.
Through the course of the investigation, witness testimony was gathered and the suspect was identified as Jose Ybarra. Investigators then secured an arrest warrant for Ybarra for the Offense of Theft (2024XARW0046) a Class “B” Misdemeanor.
On March 13, 2024, Investigators served the active warrant for Theft in San Benito, for Ybarra who was eventually located and placed under arrest for the active warrant.
Additionally, according to the CCSO, through the course of the arrest, Ybarra was allegedly found in possession of Marijuana. Investigators also learned that the suspect had an active warrant out of Cameron County for the Offense of Assault Family Violence (23-CCR-2300 Failure To Appear).
Ybarra was booked into Cameron County, Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito for Theft; a Class “B” Misdemeanor, Possession of Marijuana, a Class “B” Misdemeanor, and Assault F/V, a Class “A” Misdemeanor (FTA).
