On Thursday, November 16, 2023, the San Benito Police Department (SBPD) Special Investigations Unit, Criminal Investigations Division and members of the San Benito SWAT Team executed a narcotics search and arrest warrant at 437 Yoakum St. in San Benito.
Upon making entry into the residence, four subjects were encountered and detained. Leonardo Velez III and Monica Arguelles were placed under arrest for their alleged involvement in the manufacturing and distribution of illicit narcotics to include, marijuana, crack cocaine and THC.
According to the SBPD, at the residence, investigators seized a total of 18 grams of crack cocaine, 0.55 ounces of marijuana, five grams of edible THC products and approximately $1,000 in United States currency.
Velez was charged with two counts Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in Penalty Group One·,
Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in Penalty Group Two, Delivery of Marijuana, and Abandoning or Endangering a Child, Elderly Individual, or Disabled Individual.
