Area residents are bound to enjoy a number of diverse events and activities this weekend.
Trail the 13th
The City of San Benito, in conjunction with Cameron County Constable, Pct. 3 Adrian Gonzalez’s office will host a pre-Halloween event, Trail the 13th, on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at W.H. Heavin Memorial Park, 705 North Bowie Street, San Benito.
Call San Benito City Hall at (956) 361-3800 for more information. The general public is welcome to this “spooktacular” free, family event, read a media release from San Benito City Hall. Costumes are encouraged but not required. “Don’t be afraid! Come out, get some free candy, and have a scary good time,” read a statement from the City of San Benito Public Relations Director David Favila.
“Boo-tanical” Fall Fest
“Boo-tanical” Fall Fest is slated for Saturday, October 14, 2023, 9 a.m. –noon at the Cameron County Master Gardeners’ Education Garden, 1390 W. Expressway 83, San Benito. The event is sponsored by the Cameron County Master Gardeners, who are selling plants and other goods throughout the morning. For more information, log on to txmg.org/Cameron.
Fall Festival
Backyard Barn Venue is hosting its fall festival on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The venue is located at 26973 FM. 1846, San Benito. For more information, call (956) 617-4180.
Lady ’Hound Volleyball
The San Benito High School Lady ’Hound Varsity Volleyball team faces the Brownsville Rivera Lady Raiders at San Benito High School Gymnasium on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at 1 p.m. For more information, contact the San Benito High School Athletic Department at (956) 361-6262.
Barrio Reunion
Open to all individuals currently residing or formally resided in the Resaca City neighborhood of El Jardin, the El Jardin Barrio Reunion is scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at 2 p.m. at John F. Kennedy Park, 400 Freddy Fender Lane, San Benito. Event organizers hope to reunite as many current and former residents as possible to document stories and experiences while being reared in the historic San Benito neighborhood throughout the decades.
