LOS FRESNOS, TX —The “Grillin’ Angles” team representing South Texas Independent School District (STISD) Medical Professions campus in Olmito found the recipe for success, taking home a coveted cutting board award at the Los Fresnos Rodeo Cowboy Cook-Off held in late September.
The team competed in three categories – brisket, ribs, and chicken – earning top marks and first place overall in the high school division. The team includes Medical Professions students Emma Escalon, Anyssa Gomez, Anahi Hinojosa, Mia Juarez, Destiny Migoya, Frida Monroy, and Lilliann Olvera, and is led by Medical Professions Culinary Arts instructor Maria Garza.
Although enrolled in Medical Professions’ Culinary Arts program of study and committed to SkillsUSA prior to this event, the participating students did not have experience with cook-off competitions, said STISD officials. Instead, they prepared diligently for the event, researching and experimenting with rubs and marinades to determine what they wanted to use.
The event also featured booths for adults and children as well as a number of other vendors. Rides and games were also featured, including a popular mechanical bull, donated for the day by Coastal Event Rentals LLC, owner and Los Fresnos Rotarian Jaime Barbosa. The Rotary Club of Los Fresnos manned the bull riding station as well as other rides including a children’s slide donated for the day by Fun In The Sun Rentals.

The ONLY people that should be in this photo are the students and their teacher(s)…the Administrator and other male adults are nothing more than narcissists looking for some attention.
The name of the group is misspelled as Angles and not Angels in the first paragraph 🤦🏻♀️
