The community is preparing to celebrate as this year’s Resaca Fest will be held on July 1 at Benito’s Heavin Park.
The city council is already making preparations for the annual event that is a few months away.
On Thursday, May 4, the council met and approved to spend $14,000 on a proposal from Liberty Fireworks to illuminate the sky over this year’s fest.
The council also approved an artwork loan agreement for Danville Chadbourne’s Exhibition “Recent Work” to be held May 11-August 4 at the San Benito Cultural Heritage Museum.
A second and final reading received the council’s approval, amending Ordinance Number 2252-C to rezone a property located on N. Williams Road from agriculture to commercial restricted business.
Another second and final reading also was approved amending Ordinance 2252 to rezone a property located on N. Williams Road concerning 26.5 acres of the San Benito Land and Water Company Subdivision, in the Concepcion De Carricitos Grant, from agriculture to “Single Family One”.
The council heard an update about the city’s overlay and rehabilitation projects and the latest financial statements and approved a license agreement for the potable water line crossing of the main canal between the city and Cameron County Irrigation District.

It sounds like a lot of proactive planning is happening in our community, especially with Resaca Fest and the Chadbourne’s art exhibition. The rezoning efforts also seem beneficial, potentially driving economic development and housing. Looking forward to the upcoming changes!
