Get ready to celebrate this Saturday.
Music lovers will be entertained at the annual Hog Waddle Concert in the afternoon while children, parents and the community will be treated to goodies and other things at an Easter Hunt on the grounds of the Azteca Building.
The concert is scheduled to be held at the San Benito Fairgrounds where a carnival will also be going on through this Sunday.
In an unrelated event, the San Benito Historical Society-Friends of the Museum will host a ceremony on April 15 to dedicate a historical marker honoring local legend Freddy Fender. According to permits sought to close a portion of 143 Freddy Fender Lane for the estimated two to four-hour event, its organizers predicted some 50 people will attend the ceremony.
City Manager Manuel De La Rosa said the number could be three times higher. Because of this, he recommended to have one ADA and two other restrooms for the public’s use.
De La Rosa said he believes an older crowd could make up the majority of the attendees.
In other business, the council approved to grant a $5,000 subsidy to Body Fuel Fitness under the Small Business Administration program designed to help new businesses in the city.

What every citizen should know is that every year the hog Waddle event loses thousands of dollars. The city commission and the city manager should be ashamed for continuing this event knowing that they lose money. But their ego gets the best of them. I think they should all be held accountable .
