Members of the San Benito Police Department (SBPD) were surprised by local beauty queens last week when nine Miss San Benito winners visited the police department with various sweet treats to show their support of the officers.

Just before the end of the day for officers, Royalty Productions Pageants – an agency that has just been started by San Benito resident Estebanee Garcia and her husband Lupe Garcia – gathered their inaugural class of Miss San Benito winners from all nine age divisions to pay tribute to the men in blue.

According to Garcia, the trip to the police department was part of a contractual agreement each beauty pageant winner makes to give back to the community.

“Each winner agrees to do community service during the year that they hold the crown,” said Estebanee Garcia. “We’re hoping to build an institution that prides itself on community service… This is our first class of winners, and I couldn’t be more proud of the effort these girls have put into giving us a strong foundation for future years.”

In addition to the Miss San Benito pageant, where nine age divisions, from age 0-19, are awarded, Royalty Productions has been hosting internet beauty pageants across Cameron County. While the Garcias have built the program from the ground up, they hope to eventually become the biggest pageant company in South Texas.
