Deputies make arrests in separate incidents

Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies made multiple arrests in separate area incidents last week.

On January 30, 2023, a Cameron County Sheriff Deputy was dispatched to B&M International Bridge in reference to a male subject allegedly violating a protective order.

According to a Cameron County Sherriff’s Office (CCSO) report, upon arrival, the deputy made contact with U.S. Customs Agents who had Roberto Chavez, of San Benito, detained and in custody.

According to the CCSO, on January 18, 2023, Chavez was arrested and charged with Assault Family Violence. At which point, according the CCSO, an Emergency Protective Order was issued, determining that Chavez could not have any contact with his spouse. As per the agents, Chavez was travelling with his spouse and were alerted through their system about the Emergency Protective Order.

Upon further investigation, Cameron County Dispatch confirmed that the Emergency Protective Order was still active, and the deputy took Chavez into custody.

Chavez was transported and booked into Carrizalez-Rucker Detention Center.

On January 27, 2023, a Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a black Ford Taurus on FM 1575 and Cielo St. in Los Fresnos.
