According to a prepared statement by the Cameron County Sherrif’s Office, on January 18, 2023, a Cameron County Sheriff Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Escape, at the intersection of Frontage and Williams Rd. in San Benito.
Upon making contact with the driver, she was identified as Consuelo Ambriz, 47-years-old. As the deputy conducted a license plate check with Cameron County Dispatch, it was revealed that the license plates came back to a Chevrolet pickup truck.
Furthermore, the deputy noticed the windshield sticker did not match the license plates. Upon conducting a check on the windshield sticker, it was revealed that the sticker belonged to a vehicle stolen out of Harris County.
According to the CCSO, Ambriz stated she recently acquired the vehicle in Brownsville, but was not able to disclose exactly from whom nor where she received it.
Furthermore, Ambriz stated she received the license plates and the windshield sticker somewhere in Mexico. Ambriz admitted to the deputy that she placed the windshield sticker and the license plates on her Ford Escape. Ambriz placed them knowing they did not belong to her vehicle.
