The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) saw some local activity in recent days as sheriff’s deputies made multiple arrest in two separate, unrelated incidents.
CURRENCY SEIZED
On Dec. 9, 2022, a Cameron County Sheriff’s K9 Unit, conducted a traffic stop on northbound I-69 in San Benito on a maroon Ford Fusion.
According to the CCSO, during the traffic stop, a Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputy deployed his K9 partner Dyro, who alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of $49,400 in U.S. Currency.
The driver of the vehicle denied any knowledge of the currency and was released pending further investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
NARCOTICS SEIZED AT PORT OF ENTRY
On Dec. 8, 2022, Cameron County Sheriff’s Investigators, alongside U.S. Customs Agents, detained a vehicle at the Los Indios Port of Entry, in Los Indios.
