After six months on the job, City manager Manuel De La Rosa has been given a $5,000 raise and a three year contract extension from the San Benito City Commission. The extension was passed by a 3-2 vote at a city meeting this past Tuesday.
Commissioner Joe D. Gonzalez was the first to approve the motion, citing the positive job evaluation De La Rosa received last week. “His job evaluation came back above satisfactory so I recommend we extend him for three years and give him the raise as it states in his contract,” Gonzalez said.
Commissioner Rene Villafranco and Mayor Celeste Sanchez agreed with Gonzalez.
However, Commissioner Steve Rodriguez objected to the motion.
